State Senator Susan Bartlett is one of Vermont’s most honored legislators. She has lived in Vermont since she was 15 and graduated from Orleans High School and the University of Vermont. She earned a Masters Degree in special education and was a Special Education Coordinator for Lamoille County North. During this time, she provided foster care for two children.

Susan and husband Bill have lived in Hyde Park in Lamoille County for more than 30 years, and she has served as State Senator since 1992.  In that position, she twice won the Sheriff's Association Award for her efforts to strengthen law enforcement and protect Vermont families. She has been a leader in the fight to extend health care coverage to every Vermonter and was named the Vermont Health Care Association's Legislator of the Year. She also led the fight issues like the creation of civil unions, Equal Marriage and changing the way Vermont funds education.
Susan has served as Chair of the Appropriations Committee for eight years. She has served on the Energy and Natural Resources, Judiciary and Government Operations Committees, and currently serves on the Agriculture committee. She was endorsed in the last four elections by the Vermont Alliance of Conservation Voters and won the prestigious Art Gibb Environmental Award.

Susan is currently running for governor of Vermont. She is the only candidate with a proven record of working with the business community to create jobs and encourage economic development. Her work on Appropriations has taught her how all aspects of government work together. She has worked closely with our sheriffs to make Vermont safer, and worked to reduce domestic violence and sexual assaults.
